Sekhukhune United concluded their CAF Confederation Cup journey in Group D with a goalless draw against Diables Noirs on Sunday afternoon.

There were no Kamohelo Mokotjo, Jamie Webber, Elias Mokwana, as Babina Noko featured just four substitutions on the bench and another goalkeeping change in Ntokozo Mtsweni.

An increasingly high tempo start followed where the two set of teams looked to go on the front-foot and take control of matters right from the onset.

Played swearing heat in the city of Diables, a water-break was called and thereafter Babina Noko nearly had the lead from Michael Sarpong’s strike after combining with Sibusiso Vilakazi but fluffed.

Mtsweni made his first save of the match late in the half when he got down to parry a well-weighted strike from a clever angle by Jimmy Bayindula.

Within the second half, the host maintained a lot of the earlier passages which to a large degree limited Babina Noko’s effectiveness in the final third.

Sekhukhune did made in-roads though inside the midway period of the second half through a cross-cum shot by Thamsanqa Masiya, but it was well covered.

Babina Noko refreshed the line-up with time running out, as Kgomotso Mosadi came on to replace former Orlando Pirates striker Collins Makgaka.

There were no goals recorded following the final minutes towards full-time and saw the match ended goalless with Sekhukhune finishing third in the group and Diables at the bottom.
