Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has revealed his delight at the recent form of Al Ahly striker Percy Tau.
After missing out on four national team friendlies due to injury last year, Tau has returned to the Bafana Bafana squad for back-to-back Afcon qualifiers against Liberia on Friday and Tuesday respectively.
In the four days of training in the Bafana camp, Broos couldn’t be happier with the attacker’s progress.
"I think Percy - little by little - is again at his best level. For me, certainly here, against [Mamelodi] Sundowns he was the best player in his team," Broos said on Thursday.
"He [Tau] is fresh again and I see it also in training. Last year, he looked like he had 50kg on each leg. Now he is fresh and he takes action. He is the Percy Tau I like and that I know from Belgium."

After enduring a frustrating first half of the season ploughed by injuries, Percy Tau returned to be a key figure for Al Ahly, featuring a starring role in both Al Ahly’s Club World Cup and CAF Champions League campaigns. The 28-year-old’s spike in form has not gone unnoticed by the Belgian coach
"The first time I arrived here during the World Cup qualifiers it was Percy at 50% or maybe less with all the injuries he had. But now he has fully recovered and he is playing all the games," Broos added.
"I do not speak with every player and he is feeling good. It’s normal, He is playing and he is decisive also."
"He scored here against Sundowns and against Coton Sport, and made a few assists."
The match between Bafana Bafana and Liberia will kick off at 18:00.
