Bafana Bafana have been reminded that the past will count for nothing when the two nations meet at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday.
DR Congo enjoyed a partisan backing in Kinshasa on Saturday as they sealed qualification for the AFCON finals with a comfortable a 2-0 win over Sudan.

With that win, The Leopards finished top of Group I and secured qualification along with Mauritania.
However, the Congolese boast a poor record against Bafana having won just once (plus four defeats) in six meetings.
"Bafana against us (Congo) is always a big game and one that I have great memories about," retired Congolese striker Kabamba Musasa tells KickOff.
Musasa was the scorer of the winning goal on the only occasion that DR Congo they beat Bafana Bafana back in 2004 in a World Cup qualifier.
"Both countries have now qualified for the AFCON finals and will use this friendly match as preparation for the finals in Cote d’Ivoire and the resultant qualifiers for the World Cup.
"For us we have Chancel Mbemba from French club Marseille leading us and there is also Cedric Bakambu from Galatasaray in Turkey, so we have a solid team.
"Then there is the boy who was linked with a move to South Africa, Fiston Mayele coming up strong of late and has a lot of games in him.
"I think this will be a good game to watch for the fans because it will be open from the word go.
"I hope Congo can win but my priority will be to see a good game of football between the two countries.
"Whatever has happened in the past means nothing because this is a new game, and this is a different generation of players.
"My warning to Bafana will be for them not to take this game lightly because it will mean a lot for us.
"It is always like that when these two teams meet and I remember when I scored the winner in 2004, fans in South Africa were asking why I did that.
"My response was that I’m only doing my job," says Musasa, who played for Kaizer Chiefs, Maritzburg United, and Mpumalanga Black Aces during his time in South Africa.
The significance of Tuesday’s game is that it could have an affect in determining the pots that the two nations will fall into for the AFCON finals draw on October 12.
South Africa is ranked 63 and sitting in the second pot while DR Congo (69) lead in pot three.
