TS Galaxy star Bernard Parker took some time out to reflect on his very own experiences of playing in the Soweto derby.
The midfielder has lots of experiences playing in one of South Africa's most anticipated encounters during his tenure at Kaizer Chiefs that lasted from 2011 to 2022.

He made a total of 363 appearances for Kaizer Chiefs, scoring 60 goals and bagging 40 assists. He also appeared in 29 Soweto derbies during his time at AmaKhosi, according to GOAL.
Now, speaking to gambling company Boylesports, Parker divulged plenty about his experience of competing in the heated Soweto derby.
He revealed what what he thinks is the best goal he has scored against Orlando Pirates.
"Most of the time in the derby I always got a goal in me when it comes to derby day against Orlando Pirates and this is one that stood out for me which was a free kick that I took.
"We played a cup match and it was a free kick on the left side , outside the box and I hit it with my right foot - top corner.
"Pirates had a star-studded team. They had Muneeb Josephs in the goal at that time, and that free kick won the match for us, and it was my best derby goal I ever scored."
Speaking about how it feels to play in a Soweto derby, Parker described it as a "dream".
"It's a feeling that you really can't describe, you know, it's just out of this world.
"It's living your dream. I would say every footballer that participates in the Soweto derby is just living his dream. It's a feeling that you can't describe.
"Being in that moment, in that atmosphere, I think 90 000 plus fans cheering, it's something that you can't describe. What an unbelievable feeling.
"I guess I'm one of those chosen ones that got to live their dream by playing in one of the biggest derbies in the world, I would say."
