With very few teams in the DStv Premiership with the luxury of having a third kit, AmaZulu have recently unveiled a stunning alternative kit for the 2022/23 campaign. Here's a look.

The story

You would think that a third kit has become a norm across the globe given that many teams generally have an alternative strip but in South Africa, things are a little different. Even giants like Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, and Kaizer Chiefs do not have an alternative kit, but only the home and away gear.

Fortunately for Umbro-sponsored teams like Usuthu, Cape Town City, and Moroka Swallows, they have an extra kit for their exploits this term.

The eThekwini outfit's new strip features a concentrated olive green colourway, a darker tone than their home jersey. The top is sophisticated yet minimalist, with the front of the shirt only having the club badge, the Spar logo, as well as the kit-maker's emblem on the right side of the chest.

The abstract graphic print accents the vibrant design, giving the attire a dazzling casual touch which allows the jersey to be perfect with almost any outfit. The newly designed club emblem celebrating the side's 90-year existence is also another stunning piece of detail to the shirt.

The logos are all white and the seamless crew-neck collar is synonymous with their home and away kits for the current campaign. It is tailored for comfort and it is 100% polyester knit, which makes the top more durable and lightweight.

The fabric is wrinkle-resistant and it retains its shape well after a wash. Other perks of such designs are that they dry quickly and are also stain resistant, making it is very easy to clean.

The football

The club recently appointed a new manager Romain Folz, who will be assisted by Ayanda Dlamini. The French coach replaced Brendon Truter over the weekend and has previously spearheaded Marumo Gallants and Township Rollers in SA.

The 32-year-old has a notable track record in Africa having been coached and served as assistant manager in various countries including, Ghana, Mauritania, Egypt, and Uganda.
