With Hugo Broos reportedly being included in a shortlist of managers to fill the vacant role of Egypt's head coach, some KickOff readers suggest he should go and others think his task as Bafana's head coach is far from done.

What's the story?

Portuguese manager Rui Vitoria was relieved of his duties on Sunday after an underwhelming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign that saw the Pharaohs scrape through the group stage with just three points, before being knocked out by DR Congo in the round of 16.

Consequently, a list of potential replacements including French tactician Herve Renard, who is believed to be the Egypt Football Association's most preferred option, DR Congo coach Sebastien Desabre, Nigeria's Jose Peseiro and Hugo Broos has reportedly been drawn up.

Here's what the KO readers had to say

"Off course he would be. He is good at his job. Hopefully we have him in a tight contract and he's happy to be here," says Param Joseph.

"We will help him to get the Egypt job, all we [Nigeria] have to do is beat South Africa 3-0. The coach deserves to take Egypt to the World Cup," says Ledi Ighogho.

"With the quality players Egypt have, with SIR Hugo broos, they would easily win the AFCON and compete at the world cup. He's an experienced, tactically good coach," says Arthur Mogapi.

"He will take the whole Al Ahly team to the World Cup," says Bhekumuzi Ncube.

"Broos should go where he will be appreciated and supported," says Peters Papiki.

"He is not finish with his job here at South Africa. So Egypt, stay away from him until his contract is finished," says Cboniso Buthelezi.

"Any coach in South Africa will never succeed, whether at club level or the country," says Bennet Booi.

"We should keep Broos. He will guide the team to World Cup qualification, he must just add some colour to the national team," says Craig Solomons.

"Hands off Hugo Broos, we're still fine with him this side," says Mahasha Edwin.

"We will strike as a country; we really need that old man. We can't let him go as yet," says Mahamba Mahamba.

"From head coach role he must retire to Technical Director. We need his football brains and appreciation for our type of football," says Tebogo Ngoatoana.

Peseiro, meanwhile, has admitted that his team need to be better in front of goal. The Super Eagles have conceded just one goal in the tournament thus far. At the same time, however, the side has only scored six goals in their five matches.

Take a look at what the KO community thinks about this

"The good thing is that Jose and Broos went to the tournament under pressure, especially Jose; he nearly got fired before the tournament started because of poor performances in the World Cup qualifiers. Same goes for Broos. There is one thing his players need to do better if they are to taste success in the tournament beat Nigeria," says Sihle Sokalentombikadilaphendlini Ndimande.

"Let them talk, Wednesday is just around the corner. Come nine 'o clock we will be in the final," says Ghadisi Benjamin Mnisi.

"The way Mzansi publications are hyping Nigeria," says Ras Magosi St. Magakwe.

"I remember you admin telling us about Cape Verde coach exactly like this but today he is at home and he don't want to hear nothing about South Africa, this fear is nothing to our Bafana Bafana," says Joe Nathi.

"Don't worry we are going to help you pack your bags on Wednesday," says Phehello Sepampuru.

"Come Wednesday... We're not shaken. We defeated African champions Morocco," says Mncedisi Fulani.

"South Africa cannot be relying on luck every time. They should go and settle for the Bronze. Nigeria needs this trophy more than any other nation. Eagles are hungry," says Muhammed-Mudathir Alaba Abdul-Azeez.

"Football is played on the field and prior to the tournament, very few gave SA any chance of reaching the semis. But love them or hate them, they have no pressure and this will propel them to the final at the expense of Nigeria," says Last Marange.

"We have been warned so many times but we are still in the tournament. Bring it on," says Kwanda Keida Nondonga.

"Our Boys will make us proud and that's for sure. I see south Africa lifting the Cup. I've never been so positive about our nation but the boys are doing exceptional well so far. All the best Bafana Bafana," says C'gananda Akhisu Maxwell.
