Bafana striker ends goal drought

Bafana Bafana striker Bongokuhle Hlongwane returned to scoring ways as his side Minnesota United fell 2-1 to Orlando City in the MLS.

Hlongwane opened the scoring for United in the 58th minute but celebrations were short lived as Orlando City levelled matters through Ivan Angulo just four minutes later, and Orlando's Duncan Maguire sealed the victory for the away side with just two minutes to play.

Despite the loss, Hlongwane's goal brought an end to a run of three matches without finding the back of the net for the former Maritzburg United attacker.

The 22-year-old striker has played the full 90 minutes in six of Minnesota United's fixtures since the start of the Major League Soccer season in February.

Hlongwane has also been an important figure in the Bafana Bafana squad defeated Liberia to secure a spot in the African Cup of Nations (Afcon) to kick off in January next year.

Meanwhile, Minnesota will hope to bounce back against Seattle Sounders when the tams meet on Sunday.

United are without a win in two matches  and have won just two of their  last five outings. Sounders six five points above United in the Conference division and will be as equally desperate for a win after receiving  a 4-1 hammering from Portland on last Sunday.
