Enyimba International FC of Aba are owned by the Abia State government. The club was founded in 1976 by the government of the newly created Imo State, with help from revered football administrators JA Enyeazu. Enyimba are one of the most successful clubs in Nigeria, having won the Premier League six times (2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2010) and the Federation Cup twice (2005, 2009). The club has also enjoyed huge success on the continent, winning the CAF Champions League twice in 2003 and 2004 and the CAF Super Cup in 2004 and 2005.
