Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC of Ilorin is one of the two privately-owned clubs currently campaigning in the Premier League. The club was founded as ‘Bukola Babes’ by Alhaji Abdul Adama in 2004 in honour of the then Governor of Kwara State Dr Bukola Saraki. After breezing through the amateur ranks and just one season in the second tier, the club got promoted in 2009/10 and have become one of the most entertaining teams in the country. In July 2011, Dr Saraki bought the club for a reported N250 000 000 after which he renamed the club after himself.
