CLUB INFORMATION

Uruguay won the first two World Cups they entered but it has been lean pickings for the side since then.

Hosts of the very first tournament in 1930, they hold a very special place in World Cup history and their presence in South Africa adds prestige to the tournament.

They had to win their berth via a play-off with Costa Rica however and in the end they sealed their spot in less than convincing fashion.
