CLUB INFORMATION

Ivory Coast were desperately unlucky to be drawn in the Group of Death in their first World Cup finals in 2006, and won over the hearts of many neutrals with their displays in losing causes against Netherlands and Argentina.

They are seen as the best of the African sides going into the 2010 event, with the majority of their squad playing at a high level in either England, Spain or France.

Coach Vahid Halilhodžić has managed to bring tactical discipline to a side that has natural skill and physicality, making The Elephants a dangerous proposition for anyone.

Coach: Vahid Halilhodžić
Nickname: The Elephants
Honours: 1992 African champions
Previous World Cup appearances: 1 (2006)
Best World Cup finish: Round 1 (2006)
