Black Leopards defender Peter Mponda will definitely leave the club at the end of the season and is hoping management will not stand in his way.

The Malawian captain joined the team in 2005 from Zimbabwean club Monomotapa FC along with compatriots Robert Ng’ambi and Allan Kamanga, and played a key role in them surviving relegation in his first three seasons, but could do nothing as Lidoda Duvha dropped down into the First Division in 2007/08.

Now Mponda feels the time has come to move on, though what his next destination will be is still unsure.

“I have been here long enough and helped the team a lot. Now it’s time that I look at new challenges. It is the end of the season, so we have to sort things out and move on,” he tells KickOff.com.

“I can’t say where I will be going, but I definitely have to move on to greener pastures. I need to play while time is still on my side. It will depend as to what offers come along, but for sure it will be in the Premier League and in Joburg.”

Mponda hopes that Leopards will not stand in his way considering the loyal service he has given the club.

“I think I have played my part. It was unfortunate that we were relegated, but that is in the past now and I have to move on. It’s about my future and my career as well. I am done here and hope the director and the officials will understand my plea to them.”
