Kevin-Prince Boateng has given Ghana a major boost by declaring there is no way he will miss the Nations Cup.

The Portsmouth midfielder is on the verge of completing his switch from ex-German youth international to a Ghana international and says he is keen to go to the Nations Cup in January with the Black Stars.

Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has described the midfielder as an excellent player and Ghana Football Association officials say they are close to completing the paperwork that will make him eligible for Ghana.

“The Africa Cup of Nations is a massive tournament and we have the chance of winning so there is no chance of me not going. I just have to make sure we have got more points before I go there,” he said.

With Portsmouth struggling at the bottom of the Premiership, the decision by their best player this season to go away for up to a month in January will not go down well at Upton Park.

But he insists he is keen on chasing his international career.

“At my age I want to be playing at the world cup and it would be difficult for me to get into the Germany team. My dad is from Ghana so it is a big celebration for my family.”
