VV – Bartman keeps his placeVV – Bartman keeps his placePosted: 2009-11-25 09:48 Kaizer Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic is not buying into the idea of throwing Itumeleng Khune straight back between the posts to replace Arthur Bartman, though he declares that the Bafana Bafana keeper remains the number one at the club. Khune’s return from injury after three months out has been brewing up an intense debate about whether he should be handed back his place between the posts. However, Bartman has performed beyond expectations; so much so that there isn’t a performance related reason as yet why he should be demoted to the bench. “We have five goalkeepers at Kaizer Chiefs, but only one keeper can play at a time,” says the Serbian. “Khune has just come back from injury and sat on the bench for the first time in our last match. But he is still our number one ... there is absolutely no doubt about that. However, we need to be careful with how we get him back to playing again. We shouldn’t rush Khune at all because not only do we need him, but Bafana also need him,” says Vermezovic, pointing out that Bartman will remain between the posts for Wednesday night’s encounter against SuperSport. “Arthur is in good form at the moment and there is absolutely no need to change that. He will most definitely be between the posts against SuperSport.” The 37 year-old keeper has built up his confidence in a superb way, keeping four clean-sheets in the last five games.
Recent Comments: 21Mnija: 2009-11-25 10:14 True that...Khune must fight for his position back. That aint his father's club. He will have to prove that he is still the number 1. Like Teko at Pirates. I would like him to fight back for his position. He was on form. So when he is on form he is number 1. Gatyeni: 2009-11-25 10:36 Preventing SS from scoring will be though, thus Khune would have been presented with a best opportunity to prove is worth. OR maybe the coach is scarred that KC will concede more than 3 goals to Itu's disadvantage if was on goal? Jacob: 2009-11-25 10:51 Throw that Khune in VV and lets see whether he will stop the rain of goals to be conceded by KC tonight. I can assure you guys SSU will be chiefs irrespective of who is between the posts. I hope the referee for the day will not only rely on the assistants to allow legitimate goals. SIBUSISO: 2009-11-25 10:53 The chiefs coach is indeed a genius and a humble gentleman. He knows what to say and how to protect his players Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-11-25 10:54 Khune msut not come back. He is off form. Les: 2009-11-25 11:17 Go and flash yourself in the biggest loo guys. Siyaz: 2009-11-25 11:19 I understand what you are doing and I support you. Khune is a national asset but to allow him straight to the starting 11 at the expense of harmony in the team would come to haunt you. Khune is undoubtedly the best keeper in Mzansi and his time will come, both at Chiefs and Bafana. He dont have to Change his starting line up, because of favourism. Bartman is on form, i dont see a point why he must be replace. Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2009-11-25 11:35 An off-form Khune must seat on the Bench, while an on- form Bartman is playing. an off-form Teko Modise must seat on the bench, while an On-form Phenyo Mongala is playing. hehe!!! i like it.
