Benni McCarthy training today Benni: It is a fresh startBenni: It is a fresh startPosted: 2009-11-10 14:54 Bafana Bafana striker Benni McCarthy has described his return to the national team as a “fresh start”. The Blackburn Rovers striker is part of the team preparing for Saturday’s international friendly against Japan at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium and he spoke openly of his return at the Rand Stadium earlier today.“I want to start afresh and help Bafana do well in the World Cup," he says. “I have watched every match this year. All that was lacking was experience, somebody like me to stick the ball in the back of the net,” McCarthy told the press.
Benni McCarthy The Cape Town-born striker also revealed he was in constant contact with former coach, Joel Santana, contrary to popular belief that he was not in the Brazilian’s plans, owing to his ongoing problems with Safa. “I was not playing regularly for Rovers so I thought that was the reason for Santana dropping me, but the strange thing is that Santana would phone and chat to me on a regular basis and maybe that was because I speak Portuguese, but he never explained why he dropped me,” McCarthy explains. Bafana’s leading scorer of all-time promised some goals on Saturday. “I need only one touch to score and I will show the country I am still the best at what I do,” he promises. Tiyani wa ka Mabasa

Analyst: 2009-11-10 15:07 I like this guy. He doesn't beat about the bush. 'Im still the best at what I do' I call that confidence. Some may call it arrogance, but Benni is our best striker ever. Maots Action speaks louder than words Beni. Rember this is ur last world cup, don't mess up. Musa: 2009-11-10 15:09 Hehehe! suka madoda, “I need only one touch to score and I will show the country I am still the best at what I do,” Elijah : 2009-11-10 15:12 It is time to win games. This losing and saying we are learning is rubbish. Bafana must beat Japan and Jamaica. Japan will be very tough, they are fast and clever... Fuze: 2009-11-10 15:14 I think Benni is right that there is still a lot from him. He was impressing last week when was introduced in the second half with his team mate Roberts against Portsmouth. He played well and created a goal through his perfect cross to Roberts. Commentators were also impressed by his skills which is a strength of South Africa players like Steven Pinaar. Scorpion: 2009-11-10 15:17 the spoil-brat is back and already bragging? 1 touch my ass!!! New Kid: 2009-11-10 15:19 You damn right it is a fresh start. You better not mess it up. FISTOS: 2009-11-10 15:25 'Im still the best at what I do' I call that confidence Brandon : 2009-11-10 15:30 We have Kermit Erasmus,Bernard Parker and Katlego Mphela and I think Mphela will form a good combination with McCarthy. I would prefer the coach to start the game with Mphela and McCarthy. By now all of us no he was out of the team because of politics because if form was the issue and game time why did we select players like Parker and Van Heerden who still had to break into the first team????? I think we will give a good account over the weekend i just dont know how we can make Lance the back up for Gxaxa...it still beats me......... Mthwakazi He is the best we have and his confidence is somethin we are missin from the rest justice: 2009-11-11 07:30 I like his ego, that's why he is not the same as all the strikers we have in the country, he knows what he's good at and what he's not, that's the difference, I am reminded of young Benny in Bekinafaso, S\'busiso: 2009-11-11 07:35 Come Sa****ay, we'll c whether the spark is still there or not.U better pray 2 ur gods that it is still there after this comment“I want to start afresh and help Bafana do well in the World Cup," he says. “I have watched every match this year. You must be the biggest idiots in football mike: 2009-11-25 23:57 When you go to war you use the best materials you have. Berni isstill the best striker SA have today, if he had played in the confederation cup SA would have won more matches. Combine Berni with Kermit Erasmus up front and BafanaBafana would be deadly against any team. The current strikers shivers in front of goal. I am a Nigerian but I like the passion and pace of Bafana Bafana during the confederation cup. If they keep up that workman's attitude with the striking duo of Berni and Erasmus they would be hard to beat. Copyright 2007 KICKOFF.com | 2009-11-10 14:54
