KICKOFF PLEDGES

Bafana Bafana might not be doing too well at the moment, but they need our support more than ever before the World Cup. Join other fans in getting behind the national team as the country's finest hour draws closer.

It doesn’t matter who is chosen to play on the day, it doesn't matter what odds are against the team but I pledge my support! I am 100 percent behind you. Let’s surprise the world with an excellent display in 2010.

By Bheki Nkosi, Rustenburg

Ke nako as we are celebrating Africa’s humanity, let us show the world that we can do as we did in the Afcon in 1996. We will support you as t he soldiers who will fight the batt le in 2010. The World Cup will not only be a time of celebrating and excitement, it will also be a time of opportunity. It will be a test for South Africa’s ability to host a successful event. In September we started the Football Friday campaign, by wearing a shirt of our national team, Bafana Bafana, on Fridays for the next 40 weeks leading up to the World Cup. Bafana Bafana, best of luck. You make our nation shine.

By Thamsanqa Templeton Shuta, Fort Beaufort

A football game is played and won on a pitch and not through history books and reputation. It’s XI versus XI on the pitch and either team can win if they use the chances they create. I hereby pledge to support Bafana Bafana all the way!

To Aaron 'Mbazo' Mokoena and his boys...

We know you will do the country proud when the big day finally arrives. Keep working hard, always have belief, and have some Powerade to keep you going! And know that the whole country will be shouting and blowing on their vuvuzelas to support you every step of the way.

CELEBRITY PLEDGE

I would like to take this moment to say thank you for giving me a chance to voice my support to Bafana Bafana. As a player I would like to pledge my support to Bafana and say, no matter who takes to the field on the 11th of June I will be behind you every step of the way. I know that you are not in the field to play for yourself but for the nation. It means a lot to all the people of South Africa. My teammates at Santos and I are fully behind you and wish you all the best. Good luck and God bless.

By Tshepo Motsoeneng, Santos goalkeeper
