Mzansi's number-one, as he is known by the supporters, was a fan favourite as soon as he took over the gloves from Rowen Fernandez at Kaizer Chiefs in 2007, with his flamboyant style and big personality.
'Itu' was part of Bafana Bafana's 2008 Africa Cup of Nations squad but did not play. He made his international debut against Zimbabwe on March 11, 2008, and has been the preferred choice ever since.
Khune saved a penalty against Spanish star David Villa in the group stages of the 2009 Confederations Cup, and went on to make some great saves in the World Cup, particularly against Mexico.
But he was sent off against Uruguay, after tripping Luis Suarez, and missed Bafana's final game against France.
