Didier Drogba began his career for Le Mans at the age of 19, and after an impressive spell, signed for league two side En Avant Guingamp in 2002. After more noticeable performances, the young Ivorian signed for Marseille in 2003 where he played in 35 league games, scoring 19 goals, before moving across the Channel to Chelsea.

A strong player and good in the air, the Ivorian was the winner of the 2006/07 season's Premier League Golden Boot award with 20 goals and he became the first Chelsea player since Kerry Dixon in the 1984/85 season to break the 30 goal mark in all competitions with 33 goals.

He then moved to China to play for Shenhua, before turning out for Turkish outfit Galatasaray.

Drogba won his first international cap on 8 September 2002, and scored his first goal for the Ivory Coast a few months later in a 3-0 win over Cameroon. In 2006 the striker captained the Elephants to their second African Cup of Nations final, however he missed a spot kick as Egypt won on penalties.

He also appeared in the 2006 and 2010 World Cups but couldn't prevent his side being eliminated in the group stage.
