The defensive midfielder started his career in his native Ivory Coast before moving to Belgium in 2000 to further his career at KRC Genk. After over a hundred performances for the Belgian side Zokora moved to France to play for Saint-Etienne in 2004, where he stayed until 2006, when he switched to Spurs. At White Hart Lane he became known for his powerful running and enthusiastic celebrations. In the summer transfer period of 2009 Zokora signed for Sevilla FC for € 9 million euro. (c.£8 million). Zokora made his debut for Sevilla FC on August 30, 2009 in the first round of the La Liga season away to Valencia CF. In 2011 he signed for Turkish side Trabzonspor. He is also a key member of the Ivory Coast team and has played regularly for them since his debut in 2000.
