Tshabalala's goal in the opening match of the 2010 World Cup will forever be etched into the memories of South African fans.

His classy strike against Mexico was nominated for the Fifa Puskás Award for the best goal of the year, although he lost out to Turkey international Hamit Altintop.

'Shabba' made his Bafana Bafana debut against Egypt in January 2006, while still at Free State Stars, and has racked up 64 national caps and nine goals.

He was relegated with Ea Lla Koto from the Premiership at the end of 2005/06 and signed by Kaizer Chiefs in January 2007.

He was stand-in captain for Bafana in 2011, in the absence of Steven Pienaar, but a dip in club form prompted Gordon Igesund to hand the armband to Bongani Khumalo.
