Booth is the tallest player to appear for Bafana Bafana at six foot, six inches and was the 12th man to captain Bafana Bafana.

He was picked for the 2002 World Cup finals, but then ruled out by injury. He returned to the squad in 2008 after having made just one appearance for the national team in the preceding six years.

He became an international figure with his performances and the crowd support he received during the 2009 Confederations Cup.

He was captain of South Africa’s Under-23 Olympic squad that played at the Sydney Games and made 35 appearances at that level for South Africa.

He was also captain of the Under-20 team that reached the Final of the African Youth Championships in Morocco in 1997, and also played in the World Championships in Malaysia the same year.
