‘Fed Cup lacked 'wow' player’

‘Fed Cup lacked 'wow' player’

Posted: 2009-07-16 19:15

Former international Adokiye Amiesimaka has described Sunday's Federation Cup Final as a 'general display of ordinariness' and said it lacked a 'wow' player.

Enyimba claimed the Cup with a 1-0 win over Sharks, but Adokiye was left unimpressed by the football on display.

"There was no player with a 'wow' effect," he told KickOffNigeria.com. "Overall, it was a general display of ordinariness."

Amiesimaka also had some harsh words for the tactics on display from both sides, saying: "Sharks’ tactics were below average because they were not oriented to singlemindedness of purpose to score goals. Enyimba's tactics were effective, but still not memorable.”

The Teslim Balogun Stadium was packed to the rafters for the game, and that allowed for some good words, albeit with a caveat.

"Attendance was excellent, but it is thanks to the Premier League break in England more than anything else."

Please can someone tell me what "WOW" stands for cos i am lost here.
thanks and God bless.

WOW, in this case stands for eye catching player. expcetional player. A stand-out player. A man of the Match player. i hope it makes sense.

Nwafada,
Wow means being mesmerized, lost for words, the player's skill leaves you dumb-struck. Wow is always followed with an exclamation point(!).
It can also been seen as onomatopoeia. In this case, the sound suggests the meaning. Just like pow!! suggests gun shots.

SUYA: 2009-07-16 20:58

be seen

muhammed: 2009-07-16 22:27

@gerry you define it as it stands for
@suya you define it grammaticaly

Adokiye Amiesimaka: I really don't have confidence in you ****ysing football again since you said Okocha (Retired) should come back to the SE. I am sure you would not see a WOW player in either teams that played Federation cup and you would be the first person to shout on SE coach to draft in home base players. If Old age is catching up, Please its time to retire and talk less.

The word.: 2009-07-17 01:49

@kcee that's funny, but disrespectful to our elder. The man is a veteran of football, and he said what he observed. We all know the impact of EPL in our country. I think is killing our league more than NFF do.

another problem lack of proper media coverage - come on its 2009 - no match stats , not even the mention of the goal scorers name. how low can the the naija press sink. No tv coverage

muhammed: 2009-07-17 22:45
