Big money deal worries Adebayor

Big money deal worries Adebayor

Posted: 2009-07-16 10:29

Manchester City are still hoping that prospective signing Emmanuel Adebayor will join them on their Vodacom Challenge tour.

Adebayor has asked City for more time to consider a move from Arsenal because he fears that the lucrative transfer could lead to strong criticism from his Togolese brothers.

City have delayed plans for a medical while he considers their R2-million a week offer.

Arsenal have accepted City’s R340-million bid, but Adebayor is worried that that people will see him as money-driven if he leaves a club that is hugely popular in Africa and go to one that has a much lower standing.

Adebayor’s preference was a move to Italy and he has asked City if they will allow him a few days to talk to his family and representatives before going through with a move that he believes could open him to criticism.

City have already signed Carlos Tevez, Roque Santa Cruz and Gareth Barry, but plans for Adebayor to join the squad as they left for a pre-season tour of South Africa have had to be shelved.

City remain hopeful, however, that Adebayor will be able to join them during their 10 days in South Africa.

I think he is scared of Carlos Tevez, Roque Santa Cruz's competition!!

unathi mfundo: 2009-07-16 11:06

It is better Bcause you don't know you are only thinking boy!!! and you think like a slave, remember this is africa boy!!

mandla: 2009-07-16 11:38

I wonder if the people from Togo will support him financialy when his career comes to an end!For me the issue is the switch from Champions league to the European League,Phela breaking to the English top 4 is not easy Aston Villa tried last season and could nt keep the momentum. The suppossed move to Milan has since hit a snag and at 25 he must just sign on the dotted line, besides ****nal are already looking at Chamack and Huntelaar.

U rite Mandla n ur ansa is diplomatic unlike unathi's, as if he related to Adebayor, talking about a pot n a kattle, which 1 is black, u did not, u foo, hah

I think he must not take an offer from Man City, I agree with Stonza cos there's a big competition for him as a striker looking at Carlos Tevez, Santa Cruz and Robhino. He should stay at ****nal as he could be a regular player there.

if u go there my brother from another mother ur carrier will be doomed, forget about the african player of the year coz it will be between drogba and eto, hence they will be playing in the champions league and im confident their teams will go to the knockout stages.these things count a lot wen choosing the best player,
so playing for teams like man city doesn't worth it especially coming from a team that always go thru to the knockout stages of uefa league,
eg,paba diop,
steven peenar,
benni marcathy,
obafeni matins,
the list is endless, they have never even short listed for the african player of the year, and since Kanu left ****nal he is just like them,
SO PLIZ MAKE UR MIND,KAKA MADE HIS MIND SO ITS UP TO U MAN,

ah,money talks,Adebayor must consider that offer, football career is very short and frankly speaking its all about money in this game this days.he should go for that offer and that tells how valuable City had rated him.as ****nal fan I wouldnt be happy to see him go but as fellow African I look at his life and future.
