Mweene wins big at Stars

Posted: 3 July 2009 Time: 10:02

Kennedy Mweene walked away with R100 000 as Player of the Year last night when Free State Stars presented awards to their players for a job well done in the just ended season.

According to general manager Ransi Mokoena all the players were winners but not all could be rewarded.   The Top Goal Scorer prize was scooped by Sthembiso Ngcobo who took home R65 000.   The other awards were most disciplined player which was won by Siyabonga Mdluli and the most consistent player James Matola who both pocketed R25 000.   The duo of Thamane Motaung and Tabelo Mafokeng were named Rookies of the Year and both took home R20 000.   Mokoena said they were happy to finally reward their players.   “It is the players who took us to where we were at the end of the season. We had to thank them and that is why we took the decision to do this just before the start of the season. Everyone in the team is a winner and we appreciate all that they have done for the team,” he told KickOff.com.   Mweene was also named the Goalkeeper of the Year by PSL at their awards ceremony in May and picked a R50 000 prize from the League for his efforts.

This man should teach Khune what a keeper should do and not do. Very good in overall, well deserved.

Khune and Teko Modise are overrated. That's why no overseas team wants them

I respect Kennedy Mweene's achievements, he deserved it well. But I would not go as far as compare him with other players, because then that would be totaly unfair.E.g.Khune vs Mweene, it's unfair to Khune as Mweene works with a bunch of unknowns, and is the only player amongst his team mates who plays international football. His perfomance would outshine everybody in his team, but when you imagine him competing against, say, Calvin Marlin, in a STAR studded Downs, then you'd realize he's just like everybody else.
In so saying, well done to Kenny....

Khenyeza was a star at G.Arrows, coz everybody was playing for him.He came to Chiefs, and found out that it is not easy to shine in a galaxy of stars situation. So I for myself, would not go to as far as compare the two.

Kali what is it that Khune has done for you and your family which you cannot forgive? you are now joined by another idiot "Oebogeng' in your hatred for Khune. We are really tired of your obsession with Khune. If he was not the best he will not be voted by Castrol as the third best saving keeper in the Confederation Cup behind Irag, Mohammed Khasid and USA, Tim Howard. He achieved this ahead of the World best keepers such as Casilas, Buffon, Cezar and EL Hadary. I think it is high time the editor ban you from this forum.
