Kaizer Chiefs injury update: Khune, Manyama, Mashiane, Mathoho

Kaizer Chiefs supporters will welcome some good news as they gear up for crunch time in the Absa Premiership and Nedbank Cup.

Chiefs are competing on two fronts but have had several hiccups with injuries, with the likes of Itumeleng Khune, Lebogang Manyama, Happy Mashiane and Erick Mathoho amongst the casualties.

They take on SuperSport United this evening at the Lucas Moripe Stadium as they go in search of a fourth victory in five matches, with coach Middendorp having delivered some positive news with only a few weeks left before a few players return.

“We will probably have a few of the guys back before the end of the season,” Middendorp said on his club’s website.

“Mulomowandau Mathoho is back on the training pitch, although he will only start doing full training in about four weeks.”

The club also offered detailed updates on Khune, Manyama and Mashiane.

|Lebogang Manyama has entered the final phase of his rehabilitation and will resume full training in two to three weeks’ time. The midfielder is recovering from a knee injury,” read a statement. 

“Happy Mashiane is doing gym work and will start full training in about three weeks. The talented left-back is on the mend from a broken toe.

“Itumeleng Khune is still working out in the gym, but he has also started running on the field. The skipper is out for the season with a shoulder injury.”
