Milutin Sredojevic explains confidence as Orlando Pirates face must-win clash against Horoya

Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic has explained what makes them believe they are capable of getting the necessary victory in their visit to Horoya on Saturday.

Pirates face a do-or-die encounter in Conakry this weekend as their CAF Champions League campaign hangs in the balance, with a spot in the quarterfinals up for grabs.

The Buccaneers need no less than a victory away to the Guinean outfit at the 28 September Stadium if they are to progress, while the hosts have not lost at home in their previous 14 continental fixtures.

Despite this, Sredojevic has found reason to remain positive that they can make history by joining fellow South African side Mamelodi Sundowns in the knockout stages of the competition.

“Do you know that even in the league, we are have won 22 points out of our total of 40 points in away games? This is one source of confidence,” explained Micho.

“But there are many others. Maybe if we had beaten FC Platinum, we would go to Guinea calculating, and in doing so we concede in the last minute of the match and that calculation let us down.

“Now we are going without a calculator and we know what we need – there are no buts, ifs or maybes, because it is a must-win.

“As an optimist, a person that believes, a convenor and a coach of this big club, with respect to the history of the badge and millions of supporters, we need to be extremely positive and believe.

“There’s a special trust, confidence and belief in our work we do and that we have what it takes to give our best there and to win.”

Kick-off on Saturday afternoon is set for 15h00.
