Arsenal thrashed Rennes at the Emirates Stadium, while Villarreal, Eintracht Frankfurt and Benfica were among the sides to advance to the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals.
Arsenal 3-0 Rennes
Arsenal overturned a 3-1 first-leg deficit against Rennes with a 3-0 triumph to advance to the last eight of the Europa League on the away goal rule.
Two goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and a header from Ainsley Maitland-Niles granted Unai Emery’s side a 4-3 aggregate victory.
Villarreal 2-1 Zenit St Petersburg
Goals from Gerard Moreno and Carlos Bacca led Villarreal to a 2-1 win over Zenit at home to Villarreal.
Zenit’s consolation arrived in the dying moments of the match through Branislav Ivanovic, as the LaLiga outfit claimed a 5-2 aggregate win to advance to the quarter-finals.
Inter Milan 0-1 Eintracht Frankfurt
Inter Milan’s European campaign ended on a disappointing note following a 1-0 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt at the San Siro Stadium.
Following a goalless first leg, the Nerazzurri got off on the wrong foot when Luka Jovic pounced on a defensive mistake from Stefan De Vrij for the winner after just six minutes.
Inter were unable to claw their way back into the encounter as Frankfurt ran out 1-0 aggregate winners.
Benfica 3-0 Dinamo Zagreb
Benfica secured their ticket to the quarter-finals after defeating Dinamo Zagreb 3-0 in extra-time.
Jonas opened the scoring in the 71st minute to make it 1-1 on aggregate, sending the game to extra-time in the process.
Francisco Ferreira and Alex Grimaldo got the goals in extra-time seal a 3-0 win on the night and 3-0 aggregate win.
Slavia Praha 4-3 Sevilla
Slavia advanced to the next round at the expense of Sevilla with a 4-3 second-leg win on Thursday night.
Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui, Tomáš Souček, Mick van Buren and Ibrahim Traore got the goals for Slavia.
Wissam Ben Yedder, Munir and Franco Vazquez were on target for Sevilla, but the hosts were able to hold on in extra-time to run out 6-5 aggregate winners.
