Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt still believes they are in the title race despite a poor run of form in their recent games, especially in the second round of the season.
The Students could not pass the AmaZulu lecture at King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday night as they lost 2-0 and before that they lost to Cape Town City 3-2 after failing to defend a two-goal lead.
"We failed to deal with their long balls, they were always on the front foot," Hunt admitted after the defeat to Usuthu.
"Despite having a better second half, we couldn't get the result we needed. We are very disappointed by these latest results, it's a bad patch.
"We've been conceding a lot in the second round caused by individuals errors, if it was not for that, we would be leading by five points on the log."
With seven games left, Hunt was asked if the club is still amongst the title contenders after they dropped to fourth position.
"Look, two or three teams have a better chance but some are still gonna face each other and that will give others an opportunity," he said. "We are not out yet, this league is crazy, the most challenging one in my 30 years in football."
