Mark Mayambela believes Chippa United can finish in top eight under Clinton Larsen

Chippa United have eased their relegation concerns in the six weeks since Clinton Larsen took over and Mark Mayambela believes anything is possible now.

The former Orlando Pirates playmaker is confident that the team can produce more good results as they enjoy a six-game unbeaten and aim for a top-eight finish at the end of the season.

"As a team we're getting better and better, the confidence is very high, we are hungry for more wins," Mayambela tells ahead of their game against Golden Arrows on Friday night.

Mayambela understands the game won't be easy as they are hosting an in-form side under Steve Komphela but believes for them to finish well they need to keep getting maximum points.

"We know what coach Steve has done this season, we are well aware of his team. As Chippa we want to close the gap to the top eight," he says.

Larsen spoke about the importance of senior players after their 2-0 Nedbank Cup win over Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila last weekend, and Mayambela appreciates the comments from the coach.

"As senior players it's very important to help the team, we are committed to making sure Coach Larsen is well protected," Mayambela adds. "It's our responsibility to keep the momentum in the team, working with him of course."
