Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has confirmed that goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma will start in goal for Amakhosi against The Magic FC at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.
New goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi played for Chippa United in the Nedbank Cup last 32 against Mamelodi Sundowns, a game the Chilli Boys won 2-1, so he is cup-tied.
Akpeyi made his debut for the Soweto giants in the Soweto Derby last weekend, but will be watching from the sidelines this weekend as Bvuma gets an opportunity to impress.
Virgil Vries, who made a couple of errors which cost Chiefs in league matches played in January, will be on the bench as back-up for the match.
Bvuma, meanwhile, has not made any first-team appearances for Amakhosi this season, playing most of his games in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge, so he will no doubt be itching to show what he can do.
The 23-year-old is competing against more experienced goalkeepers in the team, so every chance he gets in the first team is valuable to him.
