Highlands Park coach Owen Da Gama is hoping Polokwane City will release Rodney Ramagalela from his contract or let him play this season.
Ramagalela is yet to kick a ball for Rise and Shine this year after being suspended by the club following his signing of a pre-contract agreement with the Lions of the North.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns striker will join Highlands Park as a free agent in July and Da Gama has described Ramagalela's situation in Polokwane as unfortunate.
"Unfortunately we can't comment about what happens with other clubs or other players, we have signed a pre-contract," said Da Gama.
"We hope sanity will prevail and they either play him or terminate his contract and allow the player to move on. The game is bigger than any team. At the end we must do what is good for the game.
"This thing of players signing pre-contracts and they start being treated indifferently is not right for football."
The former Bafana Bafana coach is hoping that Ramagalela will be afforded the chance to play and continue with his career.
"We can't criticise other teams or talk bad about other teams but we hope sanity prevails and the boy continues with his career," added Da Gama.
Black Leopards captain Marks Munyai is another player who has signed a pre-contract with the Lions of the North, and he has also not played since reports of that deal emerged.
