Cristiano Ronaldo: Former Real Madrid teammate makes remarkable admission of Juventus transfer

Real Madrid defender Marcelo admits he was forced to lie about Cristiano Ronaldo and his future before the club-record transfer to Juventus in the off-season.

Marcelo and Ronaldo were close friends during their time at Real and the Brazilian has revealed that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner had informed him of his plans during a training session ahead of the UEFA Champions League final win over Liverpool.

"We were training for the final when he told me he was leaving," Marcelo said in an interview with Esporte Interativo.

"Did he tell you before the final? Then you lied to me," the journalist responded.

"Yes, I had to," Marcelo added.

The Los Blancos' all-time record goalscorer hinted at his departure when being interviewed after a third consecutive Champions League triumph and Marcelo has since been linked to reunite with the Portuguese superstar in Turin.

"Juve is a great club," he said. "But I have a contract with Real Madrid."
