Former Kaizer Chiefs player Josta Dladla feels Khama Billiat has not been at his best in Soweto Derbies

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Josta Dladla feels Khama Billiat has not quite been at his best in Soweto Derby matches.

Billiat featured in his third Soweto Derby over the weekend, after scoring and then assisting in the Absa Premiership and Telkom Knockout matches respectively in the first half of the season.

Billiat won the penalty for Chiefs, which was converted by Daniel Cardoso on Saturday, but was at times guilty of giving the ball away.

Dladla says he is yet to see the best of Billiat in a Soweto Derby.

“He’s a great player and obviously the coach is looking at him to win the game and create those chances,” Dladla said, during the Vodacom Soweto Derby Red experience event in Fourways, Johannesburg, over the weekend.

“He is a great player and he has shown us that he can win a game out of nowhere, but in most Derbies I have watched him play we have not seen the best of him. I don’t know what’s going on. I can’t say it’s the stage, because he has been on the biggest stage like the Champions League. But it seems like when he plays Pirates we don’t see the Billiat that we all know.”
