Orlando Pirates midfielder Ben Motshwari says the tactics employed by Kaizer Chiefs made things difficult for them during their draw at the FNB Stadium.
Pirates and Chiefs settled for a share of the spoils after playing to a 1-1 draw on in the Absa Premiership on Saturday afternoon.
“It was a very tactical game, inasmuch as we wanted to win and chase the [leading] pack at the top but it was difficult, very tactical,” Motshwari, who was named Man of the Match told SuperSport TV after the game.
“They played with five at the back and two wings backs, it was difficult for us to exploit spaces on the sides because they were always overloading one side. It was a bit of a challenge. But other than that, it was a great game [although] tough.
“[In] the first half we created so many chances, we should have buried them, even myself I should have scored but it was unfortunate. We had to chase the game and managed to score. We’re not happy or satisfied with a point but we’ll take it.”
The former Bidvest Wits midfielder added that they are growing as a team, as for most players at Pirates they still lack the experience in the derby but the spirit in the team is pushing them through.
“For most of the guys is a new experience, it was the first time playing in a derby, for me it was a second time. So it’s always difficult, but as a group the spirit is there. We’re still young and learning, we want to go forward, hopefully we will achieve what we want,” he said.
