Maritzburg United's newly appointed captain Brian Onyango is confident that the club won't be relegated from Absa Premiership this season.
The Team of Choice take on Polokwane City at Harry Gala Stadium tonight mindful of the fact they are bottom of the log with 11 points, five points behind the teams above them, and with no wins at home.
Onyango, who will captain the side until the end of season, believes they will get a positive result in their game against Rise and Shine.
"It will a be tough match but as a team, we are confident that results will come especially after our top performance against Bidvest Wits last Friday," he said.
"This team won't be relegated, we are so confident and ready to make sure we don't play in the National First Division. Personally I've never been relegated and it will never happen."
When asked about the impact made by Eric Tinkler, the defender said their new coach is giving them more freedom.
"Our coach is giving us freedom and that motivates us to work hard. We are united and confident in ourselves as players. In life you have to believe and Tinkler has brought that back to us."
On his role as the new captain, he feels everyone in the team can be a leader.
"We are all leaders, the difference is that I wear an armband. Siyanda Xulu is still our captain, my role is to lead on the field and he is leading everywhere so there's no pressure on me."
