Polokwane City have suspended Rodney Ramagalela without just cause, according to South African Football Players' Union secretary general Nhlanhla Tshabalala.
Reports have emerged claiming City suspended Ramagalela after he decided against renewing his contract with the club, which expires at the end of the season, amid interest in his services from PSL rivals.
KickOff.com tried getting a comment from Rise and Shine on the matter without success, but Tshabalala confirmed 'RamaG' is on the sidelines.
"Yes, RamaG confirmed the suspension news. I personally called him and he's so disappointed like us," Tshabalala said.
Tshabalala says the former Mamelodi Sundowns hitman is confused by his club's decision.
"He was not told the reasons behind his suspension, they just told him to wait on the club's chairman [Johnny Mogaladi] to explain to him."
Tshabalala says Ramagalela, who shared the Golden Boot with Percy Tau last term, told them no other teams have personally contacted him about a prospective move.
"Reports about negotiating with other clubs, the striker said personally there's no communication with any club. Maybe they spoke to his manager. He focuses more on the field."
SAFPU will see how a meeting pans out between Ramagalela and City's management before deciding whether to take action against the Absa Premiership outfit.
"We must be careful on how we deal with this issue," Tshabalala said.
"We will wait on the outcome of their meeting then take it from there."
He added: "The FIFA rules are clear, if City doesn't sort this out we will deal with them the legal route.
"We know the rules and we are clear about that."
