Milutin Sredojevic gives an indication of Orlando Pirates' transfer window intentions

Posted: 10 January 2019 Time: 15:40

Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic has outlined the club’s stance during the January transfer window but refused to give much away regarding who they might bring in.

Eight days into the current registration period has seen Pirates yet to make any new signings, despite having to compete in three different competitions over the next few weeks.

The Buccaneers were fortunate to see their gap behind log leaders Bidvest Wits cut down to just two points, thanks to arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs’ 2-0 victory on Wednesday evening.

They will this weekend turn their focus to the CAF Champions League, where FC Platinum will welcome them to Bulawayo for their opening Group B clash on Saturday.

Later this month, Pirates will also get their Nedbank Cup campaign underway against SAB League side Boyne Tigers, with fixtures set to follow thick and fast.

Asked whether any business was due to take place soon, Sredojevic remained tight-lipped as he assured that the Bucs management were handling such decisions.

“This is something that I will not talk about, I will rather focus on the matches ahead. Our management has a report, they know what they are doing behind the scenes, but it is something that will be communicated in due time,” said Sredojevic.

Pressed further on the subject, the Serbian tactician alluded that no big signings would arrive at this stage of the season as they want to avoid destabilising their unified camp.

“You know, with the core of the team we’re having, when you have that bond and family atmosphere, you cannot now come and risk with anything special in this mid-season transfer window,” he added.

“This is mainly just for you to go for something that is really urgently needed, otherwise you’re already having a formed team because a team is formed in June/July.”
