Joel Masutha insists he is still in charge at Chippa United

Joel Masutha says he knows nothing about being sacked by Chippa United.

News broke yesterday that the Chilli Boys have parted ways with the former Black Leopards coach, while the side’s new CEO Morgan Mammila told KickOff.com that “we need to act as soon as possible if we want to get out of relegation”.

Former Bloemfontein Celtic and Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen is said to have taken over at the club on a deal until the end of the season.

However, speaking to this website, Masutha says he was surprised by the news that he has been fired and insists he is still in charge.

“I am only reading it in the newspapers and social media. I don't know anything,” said Masutha.

“Nothing has been communicated to me. I am still in charge as the coach,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Chilli Boys are currently looking to secure defender Siyabonga Zulu from Mamelodi Sundowns and Gladwin Shitolo from Orlando Pirates to bolster their defence.
