New Chippa United CEO Morgan Mammila says the club had to take action

Posted: 9 January 2019 Time: 15:28

New Chippa United CEO Morgan Mammila has wasted little time in making changes to the side’s technical team, saying the relegation-threatened outfit had to act fast.

Chippa have parted ways with head coach Joel Masutha following their 4-2 defeat to Orlando Pirates in Soweto on Tuesday night.

Masutha, who was fired by Black Leopards in the first half of the season, was in charge of five matches and did not register a victory at the helm.

Former Golden Arrows mentor Clinton Larsen will be taking over as the new coach, with an official announcement expected shortly.

“I gave a recommendation to the management, looking at the stats of the team,” Mammila tells

“We have conceded more goals in the past 10 games, and I said we need to act as soon as possible if we want to get out of relegation.

“We are busy finalising and we will release a statement at 16h30 when we finish what we are doing.

“At the end of the day we are concentrating more on the benefit of the team.”
