Steve Komphela credits Clinton Larsen for work done at Golden Arrows

New Golden Arrows coach Steve Komphela is unlikely to get the cheque book out in the January transfer window.

Komphela will rather look to promote from the club's development structures if need be.

"For us we can look at the goalkeeping department as we lost [Maximilian] Mbaeva, who broke his nose and went through an operation. We may look at development."

He added: "We don't really need new faces, our injured players are coming back."

Komphela, who resigned from Bloemfontein Celtic in December, started his reign at Arrows with a 2-0 win against Maritzburg United last weekend.

He gave credit to his predecessor Clinton Larsen for the foundation he laid at Abafana Bes'thende over the past three years.

"I believe Clinton Larsen deserves credit for his job in the last three seasons. He left a good structure and we appreciate that."

Komphela feels he has inherited a capable team.

"Sometimes coaches leave the club in a dustbin, which makes it hard for a new coach to save the club in time.

"Fortunately enough I found a very good side. Again, credit to Larsen."

Komphela said he is currently not focusing on anything more than winning their next game against Celtic at Dr Molemela Stadium on Sunday.

Arrows are 10th on the Absa Premiership log with 19 points from 16 matches.

"Honestly, we just want to win all the games. We just need to focus on the now and then we will see as time goes on.

"The club have short and long-term plans, but we are focusing on one game at a time, winning all as they come."

Meanwhile, Komphela is pleased to have reunited with his former assistant at Maritzburg, Mandla Ncikazi.

"We understand each other. It is a great feeling to work together again."
