Maritzburg United coach Muhsin Ertugral says Yannick Zakri is absent without leave.
The former Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs mentor was speaking after his side’s 2-0 defeat to KwaZulu-Natal rivals Golden Arrows at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.
According to Ertugral, Zakri has not communicated with anyone at the club regarding his absence.
"I'm hoping Zakri will come to his senses and save his career. He's a good player, just needs to obey the rules of the club," Ertugral said.
"There's no communication with him, [we] spoke to his manager but no luck."
The Turkish coach hinted the forward might leave the club, as he wished him all the best on his future.
"We wish him all the best on his career. We are hoping whoever will take him will be able to save him. Football is [a] tough sport, [your] career can end in a split second."
The 27-year-old forward, who joined the Team of Choice from Mamelodi Sundowns during the last transfer window, has made 13 appearances for the club, scoring one goal.
Ertugral, meanwhile, explained that midfielder Fortune Makaringe’s absence on Sunday was due to an injury, and not because he has been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs.
"It unfortunate that we lost Makaringe, we [are] hoping he recovers soon as we aim to survive relagation."
