New Maritzburg United coach Muhsin Ertugral says he and assistant coach Mabhuti Khenyeza have been in communication for years, despite talk of a rift in the past.
A fallout between Ertugral and Khenyeza was reported while they were at Kaizer Chiefs, but they worked together again at Ajax Cape Town without any trouble.
Now the pair are working together to try help Maritzburg survive relegation. Ertugral said he resolved his issues with Khenyeza years ago.
"Look Mabhuti is the only best man I could get. He's a hard worker and has a good eagernessto win."
"We've worked together at Ajax. This thing was made big by the media, which then didn't go back to check how we are doing. We've been working and talking for years."
Ertugral hopes to make more signings in the January transfer window, having just secured the services of midfielder Mpho Matsi on loan from Cape Town City for the rest of the season.
"I'm happy we got Mpho Matsi. I can safely say he's ready to play. About adding more players, maybe two or three [more], but for now our aim is to save this club, then we can look at the future."
Meanwhile, Maritzburg have brought back Ronnie Kanalelo to serve as their goalkeeper coach in place of Arthur Bartman.
