Italian giants Inter Milan are capable of re-igniting the rivalry of Lionel Messi and Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, according to a former player who's lauded the ambitious owners.
Messi, 31, has often expressed his desire to retire at Barcelona, but rumours have been rife that Inter will attempt to lure the five-time Ballon d'Or winner to Italy.
While Ronaldo has personally challenged the Argentine to rekindle their rivalry in Serie A, many believe the financial requirements are simply out of reach for any potential suitors.
But one former Inter player, Eder, claims he's witnessed enough behind the scenes to confidently claim that the Italian outfit can make their fans dreams become a reality.
Speaking with Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian-Brazilian player Éder stated that he believes the tax situation in Spain played a part in the decision by Cristiano to move to Italy and could influence others.
"I have seen Suning's sense of empire from within. They have everything needed to lift Inter to the heights of that empire," he said.
"Inter Milan are now seen as a family for Suning, and family means everything to them. When they bought Inter, they claimed certain things, and now they are doing exactly what they said they would.
"They spoke about growth, not promising a Serie A title, the Champions League or Messi right away. Suning can make any Inter dream come true, and that includes signing Messi if they wanted to."
