Halfway through the PSL season, KickOff.com looks at the signings that have made a mark.

Vincent Pule (Orlando Pirates): Reports suggested that the player would be joining Kaizer Chiefs, but he ended up in the colours of Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates. The Buccaneers have reaped the rewards of believing in a player that struggled to break into the first team at Bidvest Wits. Pule has been a revelation this season, making 20 appearances in all competitions. He’s scored five goals and has four assists.

Khama Billiat (Kaizer Chiefs): Arguably the biggest signing in the last transfer window, Billiat made the move from defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns to Kaizer Chiefs, despite talks that he would be going overseas. Billiat. At times, however, his performances have been overshadowed by the team’s inconsistent results.

Lebohang Maboe (Mamelodi Sundowns): Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane finally got Maboe to join Sundowns, having previously tried to bring him on board. While there were those who were not sure if the player would break into the first team, Maboe has proven to be a top signing for the club. He has made 18 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals while adding to his contribution with four assists.

Siphelele Mthembu (Cape Town City): Written off after a difficult spell with Kaizer Chiefs, Mthembu joined City not long after winning the Nedbank Cup with Free State Stars. Working with former Bafana Bafana striker Benni McCarthy, Mthembu has been able to improve his game immensely over the last few months. The 31-year-old has scored five Absa Premiership goals in 12 appearances. He is just two goals behind the league’s top scorer Mothobi Mvala.

Emiliano Tade (AmaZulu): The Argentinean striker made the move from New Zealand to South Africa and has without a doubt been Usuthu’s best player and one of the fan favourites. Like Mthembu, Tade is on five Absa Premiership goals and is a contender for the Golden Boot award. He is comfortable on the ball and is not afraid to take players on with his silky footwork.
