Former Kaizer Chiefs mentor Steve Komphela has emerged as the hot favourite to take over as head coach at Golden Arrows.
Komphela is said to have left his job at Bloemfontein Celtic and is on his way to join Arrows, who parted ways with Clinton Larsen on Thursday.
Komphela joined Celtic after a difficult time at Amakhosi and made an immediate impact, helping the club stay in the top eight consistently in the first half of the season despite their financial problems.
Phunya Sele Sele are in seventh place on the Absa Premiership standings and now have to look for someone who will do what Komphela did in the first half of the season, to avoid dropping down the table.
"Steve Komphela is going to Arrows. Talks are already at an advanced stage," said a source.
Celtic lost four matches in a row before the Christmas break, so they will be looking to get back to winning ways when the new year begins.
Arrows, meanwhile, are 11th on the standings on 16 points after 15 matches. Their new year begins with a clash against KZN rivals and Komphela's former side Maritzburg United at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on January 6.
