Baroka FC winger Talent Chawapiwa says they are not under pressure ahead of TKO final

Posted: 3 December 2018 Time: 07:00

Baroka FC winger Talent Chawapiwa was proud to help the club reach their first major cup final.

Bakgaga booked their place in the 2018 Telkom Knockout final following a 1-0 win over Bidvest Wits at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

The Limpopo-based outfit will now battle Orlando Pirates for honours at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

"We've made history for ourselves man," Chawapiwa tells KickOff.com.

"It's such a great feeling, it's something that you can't explain by words. It's a great feeling to us players, the technical team also, and the supporters. The coach (Wedson Nyirenda), there are things he said before he got here. He said in every cup he goes to the final. It was still pre-season so no one believed it. So before the game he said, 'Ja, I can see that you don't believe me. If you don't believe me it's fine but I'm going to PE.' When we scored that goal we started believing in what the coach said. Ja, this guy, he means what he is saying. He's been singing the same song ...everywhere he goes as a coach it's a final and stuff. So he was just reminding us.

"We don't have pressure. What we wanted to achieve we have achieved by getting into the final. Pirates, they are a big team, they want the trophy. We are going as underdogs because we don't have much pressure on us. We are just going to enjoy the final, enjoy the experience for the club, for the Limpopo side you know.

"It's the same team. We've been suffering from the same disease of not scoring, that's the only problem we are having. We've been performing very well but when it comes to finishing the chances that's where we are missing it. But we are doing everything possible to make sure we do better when it comes to the league now, because the confidence is now there to do better in the final, and the confidence is back to do well in the league. The main focus is in the league. As players we know how to manage the pressure you know."
