Lebohang Maboe calls on Bafana Bafana to use home advantage against Nigeria in AFCON qualifier

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Lebohang Maboe says Bafana Bafana are not likely to sit back when they host Group E leaders Nigeria in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier this weekend.
Bafana go into the game knowing they cannot afford to lose against the in-form Super Eagles, who have collected nine points in their last three matches since that defeat to South Africa in Uyo last year.
The 24-year-old, who had a fantastic outing in the 6-0 victory over Seychelles in the last international break, is likely to start ahead of Thulani Serero in the number 10 role when Bafana take on 2018 World Cup participants Nigeria at FNB Stadium on Saturday (15h00).
“It’s obviously going to be a big game, knowing that we need a point I think to qualify. Knowing that they are coming here, I don’t think the coach will want us to sit back and defend,” the former Maritzburg United midfielder said.
“We are playing at home, so we have to use the home advantage and hopefully win the game.”
Maboe was not part of the squad when Bafana beat the Super Eagles 2-0 in the opening group match in Uyo, but now has an opportunity to show the West Africans what he is made of.
A match like this one will also prepare him for Sundowns’ upcoming campaign in the CAF Champions League.
