Mpumalanga Black Aces coach Sammy Troughton wants to keep former Moroka Swallows defender Tebogo Monyai in his team next season.
Monyai, who spent the better part of last season nursing a leg injury, signed a one-month contract with Aces last month and helped them qualify for the PSL during the promotional play-off against Thanda Royal Zulu.
Speaking to KickOff.com, Troughton praised the former Birds defender for the experience he displayed during the play-offs.
“Tebogo is a great fighter both on and off the pitch. You can see this by the way he fought back after suffering a long-term injury. He lacked match-fitness, but his experience alone was enough to help us.
“I am still to meet management to discuss about players for next season, but Tebogo is one player that I wish to keep at the club next season.”
Meanwhile, Mpumalanga Black Aces are set to lose the services of midfielder Lehumo Itshegetsheng to another PSL team before the season starts.
Itshegetsheng, who as voted Man of the Match in the last game against Thanda, is reported to have attracted the interest of both Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs after his exploits in First Division last season.
The player’s manager, Abel ‘Chacklas’ Shongwe, has confirmed the PSL teams’ interest in the talented midfielder.
“At this stage I am not ready to give out information. I must still meet with Aces management to discuss the player’s future.”
