Nigeria have suffered a second setback ahead of the crunch Group E Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Bafana Bafana next weekend.
The Nigeria Football Federation have confirmed that striker Odion Ighalo has been ruled out of the tie after picking up an injury during his Chinese Super League side Changchun Yatai’s 2-2 draw with Tianjin Quanjin on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old, who is the qualifying campaign's top scorer with six goals, has since been replaced by 23-year-old Galatasaray winger Henry Onyekuru.
Onyekuru has managed two goals in 12 appearance for his Turkish Super Ligue side this season, and has yet to get off the mark in five senior international appearances.
The Super Eagles earlier this week were forced to replace Spain-based goalkeeper Francis Uzoho with Enyimba's Theophilus Afelokhai.
Trabzonspor midfielder Ogenyi Onazi was also left out of the squad through injury, while Leicester City enforcer Wilfred Ndidi misses out through suspension and skipper John Obi Mikel has asked to be excused due to "fitness issues".
The two sides will battle it out in their penultimate group fixture at the FNB Stadium next Saturday (kick-off at 15h00), with victory for either nation securing their spot at next year's showpiece in Cameroon.
