Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas says he didn't hear calls from the stands to make a substitution in the clash with SuperSport United on Sunday.

Some supporters urged the Italian to replace George Maluleka at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban after the midfielder gave away possession cheaply a few times, but their calls fell on deaf ears.

Asked about incidents of such a nature, Solinas said: "The substitution, I'm focused on the game and I don't hear them."

Chiefs won the game 1-0 to advance to the Telkom Knockout semi-finals where they will face Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates later this month.

Meanwhile, Solinas was reluctant to comment on referee Daniel Bennett's failure to spot a hand-ball by Amakhosi goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune in the ninth minute.

Khune was lucky to escape a red card after blocking a shot from Aubrey Modiba with his hands outside of the box.

"Normally, I don't speak about the referees this season," Solinas said.

"Me, I respect every decision. So, no, I'll not talk about the referee. For me the performance of the referee was okay.

"Yes, sometimes it's for you, sometimes it is for me. Because also in the second half some decisions were against us. But this is one of the best referees in South Africa, one of the best.

"He and the linesmen kept the game under control, the performance was very good. I didn't see the big mistakes. This referee is one of the best in South Africa. The performance and the linesmen were very positive," Solinas reiterated.
